[ The "video" turns on to show the inside of a covered wagon. The scene out of the back is a large, impressive-looking building, something straight out a fantasy story. But really, the focus is on a very irate catgirl. ]

TIME MAGIC!?

First thought from reading everything else:

Understand that ordinarily, time is a handed device-- which is to say, time has a chirality to it. Thus, it takes tremendous amounts of energy to change the state of time-- you have to reverse both the energy states and the chirality.

Ironically, this gathering of energy likely takes time.

Thus, it's likely this 'time elemental' is going to be at its weakest when he resets the loop.

I'm not a mage. I don't know enough about magic. You could be right.

But the time loop seems to be be a full year. I don't know if we can wait. He knows we're here now. He'll have time to prepare.
